So, for those who know me, know I have a pretty social daughter. She’s losing her mind during this quarantined time, meanwhile I’m living my best life. I don’t want to neglect her needs. Therefore, I compiled a list of things to do with your family while quarantined. My recommendation would be of course having a similar day to day routine but throw in a new midweek activity and a family night activity for the weekends.
A few weeks back Christina and I were going to have a tiktok party. Pick up our favorite snacks and recreate some of her favorite tiktok videos.
Do a process art project together. (Process Art is art that is child-directed, choice-driven, and celebrates the experience of discovery. In process art, the final product is always unique, and the focus lies in the creation of the work, not the outcome.)
Karaoke night at the house (select different genres of music, use google to help pick a variety of songs and of course do your favorites) Record them and share on social media (inspire others to join in.
While stores are still open buy some cheap white shirts and create a family theme shirt.
Old fashion movie night
Jump rope or hula hoop contest
Pancakes for dinner
Taco Night with salsa tutorials from YouTube.
Battle of the playlist (definitely one of my favorites).
Classic game night (I love connect four)
Create a scavenger hunt inside the house.
Remember when you would pull each other through the house as a kid? Try doing that but in blankets lol super fun!
Hide and seek, now typically I don’t allow this inside but hey life is short so why not live it up and have some fun.
Put a jumbo puzzle together ( I love problem solving together)
Set up a tent in the living room and make smores.
Have a nerf gun fight
If you have a back yard or a nice size patio buy a kiddie pool and do some water activities
I’ve seen a lot of people taking bike rides ( I would do this daily would my daughter and I’m buying us a bike just in time for summer).
Paint outside with glow in the dark paint or chalk.
Have a water balloon or water gun gift.
If you are able to start your own garden.
I think now more than ever God is asking us to slow down and focus on the things that matter the most. I’m a firm believer in God’s word about reaping what we sew. During this time lets focus on the things we can control and pour into our families. Let me know some activities that you will try and maybe some that I didn’t list?
Sincerely,
Your Sista on the Sofa,
Kendal
